Florissant Valley Art Gallery

The Florissant Valley Art Galleries are not defined by a single space but by a main gallery and several alternative exhibition spaces located throughout the campus: the Contemporary Gallery, Gallery ADMIN, Annex A & B, the Student Gallery and the new Sculpture walk. In addition, the campus houses a Permanent Collection with over 300 pieces, many of which are displayed throughout the campus. Pieces in the permanent collection include work created by local, regional and national artists, as well, as emeritus faculty, current faculty and alumni. The Contemporary Art Gallery is an 850 square-foot traditional space on the lower level of the Instructional Resources building (IR-111) where local, regional and international art is showcased for the enjoyment and interests of students and the local community. Two-and three-dimensional works in a variety of media are presented throughout the academic year, reflecting disciplines taught in the art programs, as well as emerging trends and movements. There are between six and eight exhibitions each year. Gallery ADMIN provides 100 linear feet of display in an alternative exhibition space located on the 2nd floor of the Administration building. The gallery was established in the fall of 2006. Early exhibitions focused on the work of current and emeritus art faculty on the Florissant Valley campus. In 2008, the mission of the gallery began to shift from focusing only on the work of FV faculty to focusing on work being created in the community. The goal of gallery ADMIN is to recognize and promote the artwork of emerging and established minority artists; and to serve as an incubator for discussion and dialog of current trends and movements in art for the community. Recent exhibitions have included: Dail Chambers, Grace Lin and Linda Bangert. Annex A & B are mini exhibition spaces located in the Humanities building that focus on work created by the alumni and art faculty. Exhibition change out every 3-4 weeks. The Student Gallery is mini exhibition space located in the Theater. The gallery serves as an instructional space for students enrolled in Art Department programs. The Sculpture Walk is the newest addition and includes 6 sculptures/installations by regional artists placed  in various outdoor locations on the campus. www.stlcc.edu/Programs/General_Fine_Arts/Florissant_Valley/Art_Gallery.html
