Keynote Speaker

St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley will welcome Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D., president of Spelman College in Atlanta, as a keynote speaker. Campbell’s presentation, “Composing a Life: Discovering How to Lead a Creative Life,” will encourage women to discover and lead creative lives.

Campbell became the 10th president of Spelman, a leading women’s college dedicated to the education and global leadership of black women, in August 2015. Her career experience includes serving as dean of New York University’s Tisch School of Arts for more than 20 years; executive director of the Studio Museum in Harlem, the first accredited Black fine arts museum in the country; and being appointed by President Barack Obama as vice chair of the President’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities.
