Little Creek Nature Area Annual Homecoming

October 12, 2017 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Little Creek Nature Area, 2295 Dunn Rd. in Florissant, MO, will host its annual Homecoming Celebration from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 28. The event is free and open to the public.

The Homecoming Celebration will feature live music from Strings Attached, guided tours of the preserve’s ADA-accessible nature trails, nature-based arts and crafts, a puppet show, scavenger hunt, and a Birds of Prey show by Treehouse Wildlife Rescue. For two dollars per person, attendees may also enjoy a hayride with apple pressing. Hayrides will be scheduled hourly on a first come-first served basis, starting at 8:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Starbucks will provide coffee and Little Creek is providing snacks.

This year’s homecoming will kick-off activities leading up to Little Creek’s 50th anniversary in October 2018. Since 1968, the North St. Louis County nature preserve has served as a nature-filled outdoor classroom for educators and students, and a place of solace and discovery for area nature lovers.

Little Creek Nature Area is a 97-acre preserved owned and operated by the Ferguson-Florissant School District for experiential learning in science, biology, ecology and related areas of study. Little Creek provides a natural habitat that is uniquely suited to teaching an understanding of nature as a total system; fostering knowledge of Missouri’s natural environment and the organisms that live in the environment; investigating man’s interaction with the environment relative to science, technology and society; and developing an appreciation of the natural world and its inhabitants, while modeling stewardship and conservation.
